A pair of daylight analysis experts representing software developer and building simulation practitioner perspectives will explore a case study on how early-phase daylighting analysis can help inform design decisions and explore the following topics:

Daniel Glaser, PhD, IES, LEED AP – Principal, LightStanza
Dan is the founder of LightStanza and leads LightStanza’s R+D efforts. He is a frequent expert speaker at major industry venues including Greenbuild, LightFair International and Radiance Workshop. Glaser is an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Daylight Metrics Committee and has published extensively in several top-tier computer, building science and human-centered technology venues. Glaser received a BS in Computer Science from Columbia University, MEng Computer Science from Cornell, and MS Arch and Interdisciplinary PhD from UC Berkeley. Prior to founding LightStanza, Glaser was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Glaser has been the Principal Investigator for several grants including from the US Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, and Colorado Advanced Industries.
Scott Farbman, AIA, CPHC, LEED AP BD+C – Building Performance Analyst, DataBased+
Scott is a licensed architect, Certified Passive House Consultant, and LEED accredited professional (BD+C AP) who provides building performance analytics, sustainability consulting and project management at DataBased+, a research studio of dbHMS. He delivers a comprehensive green building knowledge base as well as a unique sustainability perspective, not only to the projects he works on, but also to the members of the team. Farbman is co-chair, along with Arathi Gowda, AIA of SOM, of AIA Chicago’s 2030 Commitment Working Group, an initiative that sets goals and measure industry progress towards net-zero energy and carbon performance by the year 2030. Together, they have piloted, tested, and supported many AIA 2030 national-level implementations (DDx platform, Chicago Aggregated Report, Participation Campaigns). Additionally, Scott has volunteered with Illinois Green’s Energy Ambassador program, which focuses on community outreach to promote simple energy efficient measures that can be done at any home to improve carbon footprint.
