This is a recording of an IBPSA-USA webinar, held on May 22, 2019.

The US Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Building Technologies Office (BTO) has issued a Request for Information to solicit feedback from industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other stakeholders on BTO’s Building Energy Modeling (BEM) program and its future directions and priorities. To clarify these, BTO has developed a report that is structured around six focus areas:

  1. The BEM value proposition
  2. Predictive accuracy of BEM
  3. Core modeling capabilities
  4. Workflow integration and automation
  5. The BEM data ecosystem
  6. The BEM professional community

The report identifies barriers to the increased adoption of BEM and proposes a set of initiatives to address them. The report is available here: (report). Specific questions for which DOE seeks input can be found here: (RFI Questions). You can also download a copy of the RFI here.

IBPSA-USA’s membership is uniquely positioned to provide feedback to DOE on planned initiatives and their prioritization, on program scope, and on data-sets, metrics and targets for assessing program effectiveness and impact.

This webinar will provide a summary of DOE’s proposed initiatives and our survey provides an opportunity to share your feedback. Take our survey to participate so we can provide our feedback as the "voice of IBPSA-USA membership” by June 3rd.
