Technical talk, vendor presentations and lots of networking.
The IBPSA-USA semiannual meeting earlier this month in Atlanta was a great success and a good time was had by all.
Held at the historic Ellis Hotel the evening began with a technical talk by Dr. Xinyi Song about Occupant-Centered Workplace Hybrid Ventilation In the US: Now and The Future. Dr. Song, an Assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology is working on ways to systematically evaluate the effects of climate, air quality, building and occupant parameters on hybrid ventilation operation through simulation. She presented how an advanced, data-driven model predictive control (MPC) algorithm using a light-weight three-phase neural network can be used to develop intelligent controls for building systems.
After the presentation attendees enjoyed an open bar for Happy Hour, Networking and meeting with vendor sponsors that included IES, DesignBuilder, Newcomb & Boyd. A special thanks to the US Department of Energy for their support of student attendees.
