Anica Landreneau is a Principal and Global Sustainable Design Director of the architecture firm HOK, and she leads their sustainable discipline and consultancy practice. Anica serves on HOK’s Board of Directors and Design Board, and is a past member of the Management and Marketing Boards. She co-authored The New Sustainable Frontier: Principles of Sustainable Development with the U.S. General Services Administration.

Anica is an advocate for the use of simulation in design, and considers it critical to HOK’s mission. Her talk will describe how HOK tracked both modeling costs and predicted energy savings for a selection of it projects over the course of several years. The results showed that energy modeling payback is typically one to two months. The cost of even extensive modeling is a fraction of the annual energy cost of a typical large building so it can pay for itself very quickly.
