Technologies and Considerations for HVAC Systems in a Pandemic – IBPSA-USA NYC Chapter

Date of Recording:
11/18/2020
Long Description

This recording has been made free to view for all. The pandemic has led to finding new and innovative technologies to reduce the spread of virus indoors. ASHRAE and the CDC, among other public health organizations, recommend a combination of air filtration  and increased indoor ventilation for buildings. However the added filtration and increased ventilation can lead to higher energy use in the buildings and impact longer term system performance. This IBPSA NYC session will look at a few technologies and discuss the energy use impact of air filtration / increased ventilation and ways to account for the impact in energy models.

Presenters:

Walter King, Northeast Director, Aircuity
