Simulation Showcase Webinar: Urban & Outdoor Thermal Comfort
IBPSA-USA is excited to continue the Simulation Showcase Webinar Series, an initiative from the Emerging Professionals and Students (EPSI) Committee that highlights the next generation of building performance leaders. This monthly series gives students and recent graduates a platform to share how they are applying building simulation and analysis to address real-world challenges.
For our December session, presenters Quoc Dang, Manya Sharma, and Krupa will each deliver 10-minute spotlight talks on “Urban & Outdoor Thermal Comfort,” followed by a live Q&A. Join us to explore innovative applications of simulation, learn from practical case studies, and see how emerging professionals are driving energy-efficient design forward.

Quoc Dang
Quoc Dang is an Environmental Performance Software Developer at Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), where he develops computational tools to streamline environmental performance analysis and collaborates with global design teams to integrate sustainability, machine learning, and AI into architectural practice. His work centers on automating simulations for daylight, thermal, and energy modeling, advancing KPF’s data-driven design efforts across projects. Prior to joining KPF, Quoc’s experience spanned both architectural design and sustainability research. He worked across Louisiana and Texas as an architectural designer, later transitioning into roles that bridged design technology and environmental performance in Massachusetts and New York. He holds a Master in Design Studies from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a Master and Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, graduating magna cum laude with a minor in Business. Quoc is a LEED Green Associate and recipient of multiple AEC Tech hackathon awards for his work on AI-powered design tools and collaborative workflows.

Manya Sharma
Manya is a Sustainable Designer and an Architect, championing sustainable solutions for vibrant living spaces that enhance the quality of the built environment. She is dedicated to designing zero-carbon emission and high-performance buildings, supporting the development of more sustainable and livable communities that foster social and environmental well-being.

Krupa
Krupa is a licensed architect in India with a master's degree in building science from USC, She is passionate about designing climate-responsive and resilient buildings. She has a keen interest in microclimates, building physics, and adopting design-integrated environmental performance tools and workflows to complement the design process with performance feedback on daylighting, embodied carbon, and thermal comfort. Krupa is a LEED AP and a member of AIA COTE LA and is excited to connect with like-minded professionals to advance sustainable design innovation.
