Please join the IBPSA-USA Architectural Simulations Subcommittee for their first ever virtual Happy Hour – IBPSA Mixa – and celebrate the summer solstice! Tune in to two daylight-focused presentations: Sukreet Singh will present on the benefits of daylight design focused on the human well-being, healthy, and productivity, followed by Yue Liu’s presentation on predicting long-term luminance maps using deep neural networks. Stay after for an interactive daylight-themed Jeopardy! round, and social time to meet and chat with other IBPSA-USA members. We hope to see you there!

Speaker Bios:

Sukreet Singh is the Director of Energy Analytics for Cuningham Group Architecture. He leads the cutting edge research and analysis for high performance integrated design and techniques from early concept to the project document stage. He specializes in lighting, day-lighting, energy modeling, airflow and computational fluid dynamics which have been implemented as an inherent part of Cuningham Group’s design workflow. Sukreet has a background in both Architecture and Engineering and has experience working on different projects types and climate zones. He has received several national and international awards, is author of NZE book and has presented at numerous prestigious conferences.

Dr. Yue Liu is a building technology researcher and a software developer. Her research lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, physically based simulations, computer graphics, and architectural design/lighting.  She is currently a research scientist at Wormpex AI Research where she builds the state-of-the-art solutions and develops tools to simulate large-scale retail environment in order to improve customers shopping experiences (thermal/visual comfort) and reduce operation costs (energy efficient). Yue has a Ph.D degree in Computation Lighting from University of Washington where she develops end-to-end machine learning frameworks for rapid modeling of daylit environments. Prior to that, she holds a Master of Building Science degree from University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Hunan University in China. She dedicates her career to advance the field of building technology and research by developing advanced, yet accessible tools for all users.
