Passive house, or passive building, is an integrated building design and construction concept that employs building science fundamentals to attain high levels of comfort, durability, energy efficiency, and indoor health. The goal of this presentation is to introduce the audience to the passive building concept, standards, principles, benefits, and discuss commonly used design tools in the industry.
Sean is a registered architect and a Certified Passive House Consultant. Sean has been practicing in the architecture field for eight years—working on building renovations, additions, and new high-performance buildings. Sean has worked with clients in the public and private sector, providing services in architecture, passive house consulting, energy analysis and modeling, building science analysis, and facility asset management.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Science in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin, and is a Certified Passive House Consultant through the Passive House Institute U.S. (PHIUS). Sean is President of the Passive House Alliance – Wisconsin chapter.
Christi Weber entered the field design and construction over 15 years ago upon completing her Master’s degree in Architecture at UW-Milwaukee. Since that time, she has worked in both the commercial and residential sectors; first as a LEED consultant for educational and institutional projects and later specializing in residential projects with a focus on Passive House, Net-Zero and High Performance homes. She became Wisconsin’s first Certified Passive House Consultant in 2012 and is the current Vice President of the Passive House Alliance – Wisconsin. She is now the lead designer at TDS Custom Construction, a design-build firm in Madison, WI.
