The AIA 2030 Commitment and the Design Data Exchange (DDx) have transformed the way architecture firms collect project data on energy and carbon metrics, but it has never been a good place to visually understand these metrics. Architects tend to be visual people and have an intuitive understanding space, proportion, and materiality but they have a harder time understanding the technical metrics that define building performance like EUI, kWh, and CO2e.
In this session, Jesse Walton, Associate Principal at Mahlum Architects and AIA 2030 Working Group Co-Chair, will share the development for visualization of the 2030 DDx Data in an interactive exploratory dashboard using a free tool, Tableau Public in hopes that these metrics become more intuitive to more architects and help them evaluate their work and implement their 2030 goals.
